I shared a few weeks ago that my niece Maggie’s husband, Daniel, was killed in a road accident in Uganda. He was on a trip for his job with the Austrian foreign aid office. While he was there, he hiked to the beautiful spot in the photo.

Daniel was a wonderful match for Maggie’s adventurous spirit. Before they had a family, they worked for a year or two in Africa and then three years in Papua New Guinea. I’ve visited them and their two boys in Vienna and am going again after the retreat this year.

Because he died in another country, it took several weeks for his body to be returned to Austria. The funeral is taking place on Wednesday afternoon there—which will be 6-8 am Pacific time.
